Neat Engine

Whoa! An entire month has gone by and I haven't updated my blog.

Some friends and I spent spent an enjoyable weekend (Aug 4-6) in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.

While there, we saw the 2nd Story Theater do their "Short Attention Span Theatre: a festival of one-acts" in nearby Warren, Rhode Island. Brava to Ms. Linda Monchik for her excellent performance in James Prideaux's "Lemonade."

It was a tiring trip and after we got back to New York, I skipped out on the The Manchurian Candidate (1962) at the HBO Summer Film Festival at Bryant Park. But the following day (Aug 8), I saw The Dirty Dozen Brass Band perform on the Josie Robertson Plaza as part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival.

On Saturday, August 12, a lovely friend had a "Farewell to Another Year... and to New York" party at 230 Fifth.

On Monday, August 14, at the HBO Summer Film Festival at Bryant Park, some friends and I saw Charade (1963).

Between August 17 and 20, I visited some good friends in Washington, DC. We visited the US Capitol.

And the National Archives:

And the Library of Congress (that's me, saying "Shhhh!"):

When I returned to New York, I enjoyed two delightful evenings of the Metropolitan Opera "Met in the Parks" series. On August 22, some friends and I enjoyed Verdi's La Traviata.

Robert: "Noah, I think that's a Neopolitan 6th!"
Noah: "I'll drink to that!"

And on Wednesday, August 23, we saw Verdi's Rigoletto. (Sorry, no pictures.)

The following day, my colleages and I enjoyed a fun evening in Coney Island and saw the Brooklyn Cyclones beat the Aberdeen Ironbirds (4-1).

But this hectic schedule has made me ill and it's time for the Neat Engine to go to bed.
