Last Sunday, two lovely women and I headed to Pier 54 along the Hudson River Park and danced to the sweet sounds of David Berger and the Sultans of Swing. Watching the sun set over New Jersey, enjoying the cool breeze off the Hudson River, and gently swaying to the sounds of big band - all in the shadow and chaperone-like-gaze of the Empire State Building - made for a memorable evening. In fact, one young lady (who is 14) asked this old "square" to dance the entire night!
On Monday night, the gang gathered at Bryant Park and saw Bullitt at the 2006 HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival. Everyone enjoyed the famous 9 minute and 42 second car chase scene through San Francisco.
Tuesday night's dinner at Restorante Babbo was delicious! For antipasti, try the "Neci con Funghi Misti." I enjoyed the "Mint Love Letters" ravioli with Spicy Lamb Sausage. Cannonau Cantina Oliena 2003 Sardegna complemented the meal nicely. Unfortunately, it was just too hot and humid to fully enjoy "Mozart with a Downtown Twist" concert at the Washington Square Music Festival.
Bummer. Due to the rain on Wednesday, the New York Philharmonic cancelled their concert on the Great Lawn in Central Park. Luckily, our friend invited us to her humble abode on the Upper East Side and we all enjoyed a glass or two of Martini & Rossi's Bianco. Stay tuned. The NYPhil will play again next Tuesday.
